Hi, Just wondering if someone might know why my website
construction has gone crazy. I have built it with a template in
dreamweaver and am creating pages from the template. Now the pages
all look great when you preview them seperately but as soon as you
click to test links from one page to another – the next page has
lost it’s css styles and images, but if preview that single page
fresh from dreamweaver again, perfect, as soon as you click a link,
it’s wrong wrong WRONG and so on. Any ideas anybodies>?

Can you give us a link so that we can see the page? With it
we can’t help.

Sounds to me like the file paths.

Perhaps it’s a cache issue?

Hi,

I could be wrong but i don;t think it is the file paths, as
the buttons are just text links and they are losing thier
styles?
|||
Hi, excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by chache
issue?
|||
please clarify what is happening where-

is it during a F12 preview in browser? and then when you
click a link in

THAT page, the next page has no css?

if that’s it- change the css link path to a document relative
path instead

of a site root relative /path

Thanks for the reply. The problem is a f12 preview thing, as
I have uploaded site and the problem does not exist online. I
understand what you mean SORTOV about changing the paths, just not
sure where or how to do that.

I have attached a snippet of the style bits, any ideas???

Many thanks, Nelly

Please give the url address to the uploaded page.

on a hunch-

One- go into dw preferences.

click the advanced tab.

In the Preview in Browser section, put a checkmark into
“preview with temp

files”

Two-

in code view, change this:

<link href=”/menu.css” rel=”stylesheet”
type=”text/css”>

to this:

<link href=”menu.css” rel=”stylesheet”
type=”text/css”>

but only if the file you are editing is in the root level.

Hi Alan

Here is the link- www.widebaycabinets.com.au

I am having the same issue now with another site I am
building, so I’ll try changing the code as you suggested and see
what happens.

the image paths and links in that are a mix of site root
relative and

document relative.

the site root relative paths are the ones with a leading
/slash

They will only work in an F12 preview if you go into dw
preferences->Preview

in Browser and checkmark preview with temp files.

Hi Alan

I’ve checked the settings for previewing and they are as you
discussed. I’m not quite sure but think i’ve found something
suss.It’s just so strange, i havnt had this issue before. I have
tried changing the images from site root to directory back to site
root, and it doesnt seem to make a difference, very very
strange.
