Help please. I have created a website that includes a flash
movie and I cannot get it to play when uploaded to the web. It
works fine when I’m testing but on the web it just looks like it’s
eternally loading. I have read all other postings that relate this
this and have not been able to find anything that works.
Here is the link to my page:
http://www.risingphoenixprod.com/demos.html
I have checked and the “scripts” folder as well as all other
comoponents, FLV file, Skin file have been uploaded to the web and
seems to be in the right places. I was wondering if the FLV file
size is an issue. It’s about 5MB. I didn’t think that was too big
but maybe it is. I’m new to web design and am still learning.
Any help would be appreciated.
I’m using DW and Flash CS3 if that info is helpful.
Thanks,
Mike|||
Please advise exact file name of FLV
In what remote folder is it located?

the filename is medcruiseflbegin.flv
The directory I upload all files to is
http://www.risingphoenixprod.com/usr/home/msmeservy/www/
I checked and it looks to be in the same directory as the swf
file and all other files. Please let me know if you need any
further info.
Thanks,
Mike|||
Hey Mike -
Have you checked your hosting company to confirm that the
server has a mime
type configured for flv files?

I checked with my hosting company and they never got back to
me. Their service has been horrible so I switched hosting companies
this morning.
I did verify with them that they do have an MIME to play FLV
files. Unfortunately I uploaded to the new site.
www.risingphoenixproductions.com and am still having the exact same
issue. The file is the same: medcruiseflbegin.flv and I did verify
the script directory is in the right place.
Is there anything else I could be missing?|||
That is profoundly annoying! At least put a sound off button
there.
I have no trouble seeing this in FF – unfortunately 8(.

Are you talking about the SWF on the home page. Yes that one
works fine. It’s the SWF on the Demos page which I am having
trouble with.
http://www.risingphoenixproductions.com/demos.html
I will add a sound off button on the home page.

How did you insert your flsh video? It seems that you didn’t
use the
proper method.

This file loads -
http://www.risingphoenixproductions.com/medcruisebegin.swf
But it’s not grabbing the FLV for whatever reason….
Seems like the problem is in how you inserted the FLV.

I exported the FLV from Premiere then opened flash. I then
imported the FLV to the library. From there I followed the
automated prompts to choose the skin and then exported the movie
which created the SWF. In Dreamweaver I just created an ap Div and
did insert Flash and put the files in the directly. It works when I
test the page just not when it’s uploaded. Is that what you need to
know?|||
Did you upload the FLV file?

Thank for all your help. I figured it out. I went back in to
dreamweaver and added it as a flash video instead of just flash and
it’s working fine. Thanks again!|||
That’d do it….
